Gott, der du doch in gleicher Verdammnis bist ? Und zwar wir sind billig
darinnen, denn wir emfangen, was unsre Taten wert sind; dieser aber hat
nichts Ungerechtes gehandelt.

So you do not fear God, even though you
are in such condemnation? And indeed we are justly here, for we know that our
deeds have earned it; but this person has done nothing unjust.

took a sponge and filled it with vinegar and hyssop, placed it on a reed and
held it directly to His mouth to quench Him. Now when Jesus had taken the
vinegar, He said:

Wer Gottes Marter in Ehren hat und oft gedenkt der sieben Wort, des will Gott
gar eben pflegen, wohl hie auf Erd mit seiner Gnad, und dort in dem ewigen
Leben.

Whoever honors God’s martyrdom and often considers the Seven Words will
certainly serve God, here on earth through His Grace, and there in the
everlasting life.
