About the Franklin

Made in Syracuse, NY by the H. H. Franklin Manufacturing Company, from 1902 - 1934, featuring air-cooled engines designed by Syracuse native, John Wilkinson. They were the first four-cylinder engines ever produced in the United States.

In just a few years, Wilkinson developed six-cylinder,

eight cylinder, and twelve cylinder engines, including an

aviation model used to power light planes and early

helicopters. (Helicopters???)
